2009 NEIGHBORHOOD GRANTS PROGRAM

 This program seeks to promote resident participation and leadership through neighborhoodbased projects. In order to encourage and support the work of residentbased groups the NGP continues to award grants to projects that address neighborhood concerns; demonstrate strong neighborhood support and collaboration among residents whose mission is to improve the quality of life in North Lawndale.

 
Program Guidelines:

·         Mission of the project must be a charitable purpose that addresses neighborhood concerns

·         All projects must be residentled (collaborations with community based orgs are permissible)

·         Must focus within North Lawndale community boundaries (Eisenhower to Cermak; Cicero to Western)

·         501(c)(3) taxexempt status is not required

·         Organizational income/revenue must not exceed $50,000

·         Current applicants and prior year recipients of regular Steans Family Foundation funding may not apply.

·         Applications are due on May 15 by 5p.m.  Applications may be submitted in person on May 15 from 9-5 p.m. at Goodcity, 5049 W. Harrison Street, Chicago, IL  60644

·         Applications may also be submitted to Goodcity by email to shirleyj@goodcitychicago.org or faxed to 773-378-8928.

·         All proposals will be reviewed by a panel of community stakeholders

·         Grant awards will range from $250$2,500

·         Grantees must adhere to strict grant reporting requirements

 
Projects that focus on Youth and Education (Children & Adults) will be given greater priority for funding.  All applicants will be informed by June 5 if your grant has been approved.  If approved, you will receive 60% of the requested amount that will be paid out by June 15th.  The remainder of the grant will be paid after completion of the project and the final report is submitted along with substantiation of dollars spent.  The project must be completed by October 15, 2009 and the final report is due on or before November 15, 2009.
